Thai Hair Transplant Doctor Recognized on the Global Stage, Strengthening Thailand’s Rise as an Asian Hair Restoration Hub
A Thai hair transplant specialist has once again stepped onto the international stage.
Dr. Ben Butwong, widely known as “Dr. Ben”, a long-practicing hair restoration physician and founder of Mediren Clinic, was invited as a guest speaker and instructor at the annual meeting of the Indonesian Society of Dermatology (PERDOSKI), held recently in Bali, Indonesia. She delivered an expert lecture on Long Hair FUE, a technique she has practiced and refined for many years.
Dr. Ben’s participation as an invited speaker reflects not only her leadership in the regional hair transplant field but also marks an important opportunity to expand academic collaboration and medical technology development across Southeast Asia. During the conference, she also held productive discussions with the President of PERDOSKI regarding future joint initiatives to help advance the knowledge and capabilities of hair transplant physicians in the region.
With over 15 years of continued experience, Dr. Ben Butwong is highly trusted across many countries for her work in hair restoration. She is known for developing techniques specifically adapted to the unique characteristics of Asian hair and scalp. Her recurring invitations as a guest lecturer highlight the recognition she has gained in international medical communities.
Dr. Ben shared her long-term vision:

This aspiration stems from the success of the FUE ASIA Conference & Workshop 2024, held at The Berkeley Hotel Bangkok this past August. The event became an important milestone for Thailand’s hair transplant community, earning positive attention from both local and international medical professionals.
As the chairperson of the conference, Dr. Ben emphasized the goal of elevating the country’s hair transplant standards. The event brought together specialists from public and private sectors nationwide, as well as experts from more than ten countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. One of the event’s highlights was the Live Surgery Workshop held at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, offering hands-on learning opportunities for both Thai and international doctors. This played a significant role in strengthening Thailand’s path toward becoming a center of excellence in hair transplantation.
The conference also received official support from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), reinforcing the increasing importance of Thailand’s hair transplant field in contributing to the country’s medical tourism sector.
Beyond her role in organizing international conferences, Dr. Ben is widely recognized for her expertise in FUE Megasession and Long Hair FUE—procedures that require precision, consistency, and a deep understanding of individual follicular structures. Previously known by her full Thai name, Dr. Benjawan Butwong, she continues to play an important role in educating new doctors in Thailand and is the founder of Mediren Clinic, a long-standing hair restoration clinic trusted by patients for many years.
From the achievements of FUE ASIA 2024 to her contribution at PERDOSKI 2025, Dr. Ben remains committed to raising the visibility of Thai hair transplant specialists on the world stage.
