Dr. Ben: Thai Hair Transplant Specialist Recognized Globally, Driving Thailand Toward Becoming Asia’s Regional Hub
Dr. Ben Butwong, a well-known Thai hair transplant physician and founder of Mediren Clinic, recently took part as a guest speaker at an international medical forum. She presented and conducted training on Long Hair FUE at the annual meeting of the Indonesian Society of Dermatology (PERDOSKI), held in Bali, Indonesia.
Her participation as an invited lecturer highlights her leadership in the regional hair transplant field and marks an important opportunity to further advance academic collaboration and medical technology related to hair restoration across Southeast Asia. During the conference, Dr. Ben also met with the President of PERDOSKI to discuss future joint activities aimed at strengthening the knowledge and capability of hair transplant physicians throughout the region.
With more than 15 years of ongoing experience, Dr. Ben Butwong has earned long-standing trust from many international patients. She is considered a pioneer in techniques adapted specifically to Asian hair and scalp characteristics. This inspiration stems from the success of the FUE ASIA Conference & Workshop 2024, held in August at The Berkeley Hotel Bangkok. The event became a significant milestone for Thailand’s hair transplant sector, receiving wide attention from medical professionals both locally and internationally.
As the chairperson of the conference, Dr. Ben emphasized the importance of raising the country’s standards. The event gathered specialists from public and private hospitals nationwide, along with experts from more than ten countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
One of the key highlights was the Live Surgery Workshop at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, which allowed physicians from Thailand and abroad to exchange hands-on knowledge—a crucial step toward strengthening Thailand’s potential as a center of excellence in hair transplantation. The conference also received official support from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), further emphasizing the growing role of Hair Transplant Thailand in driving the country’s medical tourism sector.
Beyond her involvement in major international conferences, Dr. Ben is also recognized for her expertise in FUE Megasession and Long Hair FUE. These procedures require precision, consistency, and a deep understanding of the unique follicular structure of each individual. She is known in the region as Dr. Ben Butwong, and previously as Dr. Benjawan Butwong, and continues to play a key role in training new physicians in Thailand.
