Thai Hair Transplant Doctor Gains Global Recognition, Pushing Thailand Toward Becoming Asia’s Medical Hub
A leading Thai hair transplant physician, Dr. Ben Butwong, widely known as “Dr. Ben”, recently took part as a guest lecturer and trainer at an international medical conference. She presented on Long Hair FUE at the annual meeting of the Indonesian Society of Dermatology (PERDOSKI), held in Bali, Indonesia.
Her invitation as a featured speaker highlights not only her role as a regional leader in the Hair Transplant Thailand field but also represents a key opportunity to expand academic collaboration and advance hair restoration technology across Southeast Asia. During the conference, Dr. Ben held discussions with the President of PERDOSKI to explore future cooperative activities aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of hair transplant physicians in the region.
With over 15 years of continuous experience, Dr. Ben Butwong has earned longstanding trust from both Thai and international patients. She is recognized as a pioneer in developing hair transplant techniques tailored to the unique characteristics of Asian hair and scalp. Her repeated invitations to speak on international stages reflect the recognition she has received within the global medical community.
Dr. Ben shared her vision for the future of the field:

This vision is fueled by the success of the FUE ASIA Conference & Workshop 2024, held in August at The Berkeley Hotel Bangkok. The event became a significant turning point for Thailand’s hair transplant community, receiving widespread attention from medical experts both locally and globally.
As the event chair, Dr. Ben emphasized the importance of setting higher standards for the industry. The conference welcomed hair transplant specialists from public and private sectors nationwide, as well as experts from more than ten countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
A major highlight of the conference was the Live Surgery Workshop hosted at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. The session provided hands-on learning opportunities for both Thai and international physicians—an essential step toward establishing Thailand as a future center of excellence in hair transplantation. The event also received official support from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), signaling the growing role of Hair Transplant Thailand in driving the country’s medical tourism sector.
In addition to her leadership in international conferences, Dr. Ben is known for her expertise in FUE Megasession and Long Hair FUE, procedures that require precision, consistency, and a deep understanding of the individual characteristics of each hair follicle. Known in the region as Dr. Ben Butwong, and previously by her full name, Dr. Benjawan Butwong, she continues to play an important role in training new doctors in Thailand. She is also the founder of Mediren Clinic, a long-established hair restoration clinic trusted by patients for many years.
