Thai Hair Transplant Doctor Earns Global Recognition, Strengthening Thailand’s Path Toward Becoming Asia’s Medical Hub
Dr. Ben Butwong, a respected Thai hair transplant specialist and founder of Mediren Clinic, was recently invited as a guest lecturer and trainer at the annual conference of the Indonesian Society of Dermatology (PERDOSKI), held in Bali, Indonesia. She shared her expertise on Long Hair FUE, a technique she has practiced and refined over many years.
Her participation as an international speaker demonstrates not only her leadership in the field of Hair Transplant Thailand but also reflects an important opportunity to expand academic collaboration and medical technology related to hair restoration across Southeast Asia. During the event, Dr. Ben also met with the President of PERDOSKI to discuss potential future collaborations aimed at advancing the knowledge and capabilities of hair transplant physicians in the region.
With more than 15 years of continuous clinical experience, Dr. Ben Butwong has earned long-standing trust from patients both in Thailand and abroad. She is recognized as a pioneer in developing techniques tailored specifically for the hair and scalp characteristics of Asian individuals. Her repeated invitations as a guest lecturer affirm the respect she has gained within the global medical community.
Dr. Ben shared her broader vision:

This vision stems from the success of the FUE ASIA Conference & Workshop 2024, held at The Berkeley Hotel Bangkok in August. The event marked a significant milestone in Thailand’s hair transplant sector, receiving wide recognition among medical professionals both locally and internationally.
As the event’s chairperson, Dr. Ben emphasized the goal of elevating Thailand’s standards in the field. The conference brought together hair transplant specialists from public and private sectors nationwide, along with experts from more than ten countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
A major highlight of the event was the Live Surgery Workshop, held at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. This hands-on workshop allowed Thai and international physicians to exchange practical knowledge, contributing to Thailand’s development as a potential center of excellence in hair transplantation. The event also received official support from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), underscoring the significant role of Hair Transplant Thailand in advancing the country’s medical tourism sector.
Beyond her leadership in international events, Dr. Ben is also recognized for her expertise in FUE Megasession and Long Hair FUE, techniques that require precision, consistency, and a deep understanding of individual follicular structures. Known regionally as Dr. Ben Butwong—and previously by her full Thai name, Dr. Benjawan Butwong—she continues to contribute to the training of new physicians in Thailand. She is also the founder of Mediren Clinic, a long-standing and trusted hair restoration clinic.
